ArtCafe Photography’s Inside-Out Project

ArtCafe Photography’s Inside-Out Project

Today I’d like to tell you a bit about a photography and storytelling project that’s been on my mind for a couple of years now. It took quite some time to turn my first thoughts of wanting to do something that’s important to me into a vision for what this project might look like. My goal over the following months is to work with individuals and families who struggle with something that’s usually not visible from the outside.

What does that mean?

I’m looking for anyone who is, or has, struggled with one or several of the following:

• Anxiety / Depression / Suicidal thoughts
• Severe feeling of loneliness
• Child loss / Infertility
• PTSD (military vet, etc.)
• Gay rights
• Abuse /Bullying
• Invisible illness / Addiction
• Racism
• Homelessness (had it all – lost it all or the other way around)

These are just examples, as I’m sure there are other things that deeply affect a person’s life.

Several people already agreed to tell their stories; however, I’m looking for some more. I’d love to cover a broader range of topics to raise awareness of issues that families are struggling with. There are no age or other restrictions, but the person needs to be willing to talk about their struggles and share their story.

Please be aware that this is a storytelling project through photography and art. To participate, you need to be willing to tell your story, and a signed model release is required. There is no cost to you to join us on this journey.

If you have a story to tell and are interested in participating, please click the following link and fill out the form:

Also, if you know someone who might be interested, please send them the link to this post.

Filling out the form does not guarantee a spot in this project. If you submit the form and realize after we talk in more detail that this is not for you, you have the option to opt out.

I know it might be scary to face these deeply personal things, so be assured that there will always be a way out for you if it gets too much.

I hope that you will appreciate this work as much as I look forward to doing it.
